Stamping processing

August 02, 2021

Stamping processing is the production technology of using the power of conventional or special stamping equipment to directly subject the sheet to the deformation force and deform in the mold, so as to obtain product parts with a certain shape, size and performance. Sheet materials, molds and equipment are the three elements of stamping processing. Stamping is a method of metal cold deformation processing. Therefore, it is called cold stamping or sheet metal stamping, or stamping for short. It is one of the main methods of metal plastic processing (or pressure processing), and it also belongs to material forming engineering technology.

1. Distinguish the stamping process according to the workpiece product. According to the workpiece product, the stamping process can be roughly divided into two categories: separation process and forming process (also divided into tortuous, deep drawing, and forming).

(1) The separation process is to separate the stamping parts and the blank from each other along a certain contour line during the stamping process, and the quality of the respective sections of the stamping parts must also meet certain requirements;

(2) The forming process is to make the stamping blank undergo plastic deformation without damage, and transform it into the required product shape, and it should also meet the requirements of standard service and other aspects.

2. According to the temperature during stamping, there are two methods of cold stamping and hot stamping. This depends on the strength, plasticity, thickness, degree of deformation, and equipment of the material. Together, the original heat treatment of the material and the final application conditions should be considered.

(1) The processing of cold stamping metal at room temperature is generally suitable for blanks with small thickness. The benefits are no heating, no scale, good surface quality, convenient operation and low cost. The disadvantage is that there is work hardening, which makes the metal lose its ability to further deform when it is severe. In most cases of cold stamping, it is necessary to use stamping oil to improve the process. At the same time, the blank thickness is required to be uniform, not firm, and small in size, with a smooth surface, no spots, and no scratches.

(2) Hot stamping is a stamping method in which metal is heated to a certain temperature scale. The benefit is that it can eliminate internal stress, prevent work hardening, increase the plasticity of the material, reduce the deformation resistance, and reduce the power consumption of the equipment.

Three, distinguish according to the structure of the die: the die is a tool that separates or deforms the sheet, and it consists of two parts: an upper die and a lower die. The die handle of the upper die is fixed on the slide block of the punch press and moves up and down with the slide block, while the lower die is fixed on the work table of the punch press. It is an indispensable mold in stamping production. According to the die structure to distinguish the process can basically be divided into three kinds of simple stamping, continuous stamping and compound stamping.

(1) Simple stamping is a stamping process in which only one process is completed in one stroke of the punch. It is a simple punching die for blanking or punching. When the punch is punched down, the punched parts (or waste) enter the die hole, and the material clamps the punch and moves upward along with the punch.

(2) Continuous stamping refers to the completion of several stamping processes on different parts of the mold in one stroke of the punching machine. Through the cycle, the interval of each feed is controlled by the stopper pin.

(3) Compound stamping is to complete several stamping processes together on the same part of the mold in one stroke. The biggest feature of compound stamping is that there is a convex and concave mold in the mold. When the slider moves downward with the convex and concave molds, the strips are firstly blanked in the convex and concave molds and the blanking concave mold. The blanking piece is held by the drawing punch next to the lower die. When the sliding block continues to move downwards, the die moves downwards for drawing. The compound mold is suitable for stamping parts with large output and high precision.
